Agreements + provenance

Turn dense AI language into questions you can ask.

Use a plain-language issue-spotting pass before you sign. This tool does not upload, read, or interpret your contract.

A useful first pass

  1. 1Search the agreement for AI, data, train, model, synthetic, replica, likeness, voice, sublicense, and derivative.
  2. 2Mark every clause that answers—or avoids—the questions below.
  3. 3Download your notes and take the exact contract language to a lawyer or trusted representative.

Honest limit: this checklist cannot tell you what a specific clause legally means, whether it is enforceable, or whether you should sign.

AI training

Does this let anyone train, fine-tune, test, or improve a model using my recordings, compositions, voice, face, name, or files?

Digital replicas

Who may create, authorize, or exploit a synthetic voice, face, avatar, performance, or sound-alike?

Sublicensing

Can the company pass these rights to affiliates, vendors, model providers, or future partners without asking again?

Scope of material

Does “content,” “data,” or “materials” include unreleased files, stems, prompts, metadata, drafts, or collaborator contributions?

Purpose

Are uses limited to delivering the service, or do they also include research, product development, advertising, or commercial licensing?

Term and survival

When do these rights end, and what permissions, copies, or trained systems may continue after termination?

Consent and approval

Do I get specific approval over each synthetic use, release, campaign, or context?

Payment and accounting

Is synthetic or training use separately paid, reported, auditable, and excluded from broad all-in compensation?

Removal and deletion

Can I withdraw consent, require deletion, stop future outputs, and receive confirmation? What cannot be undone?

Warranties and liability

Am I promising I have permission from every collaborator, featured artist, producer, sample owner, and rights holder?

Credit and labeling

Must synthetic content be labeled, attributed, watermarked, or delivered with provenance information?

Disputes and location

Which law, court, arbitration process, deadline, and notice method apply?
